Jerantut, Pahang – 28 August 2025 – The Tun Razak Agricultural Research Centre (PPPTR), managed by FGV Agri Services, marked a historic moment when it welcomed YB Dato’ Mohamad Nizar bin Mohamad Najib, Chairman of the Pahang State Committee on Investment, Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, in conjunction with the International Environmental Sustainability & Governance (IESG) Conference 2025.

This occasion highlighted a remarkable three-generation legacy of national leadership connected to PPPTR:

  • In the 1970s, the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, Malaysia’s second Prime Minister, initiated the establishment of PPPTR and planted oil palm tree on its grounds.
  • Decades later, his son, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Razak, continued to lend significant support to PPPTR, strengthening its role as a hub of agricultural.
  • Now, in 2025, his grandson, YB Dato’ Mohamad Nizar, visits the same centre—carrying forward the vision of innovation, sustainability, and progress in Malaysia’s agricultural landscape.

Also present during the visit were Prof. Ts. Dr. Azhan Hashim@Ismail, Director of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM); Dato’ Khairun Nisa binti Aris, District Officer of Maran; Puan Nurul Hasanah Ahamed Hassain Malim, Chief Sustainability Officer of FGV; Encik Romzi Ishak, Head of R&D FGV; together with the senior management team of FGV R&D.

During the programme, YB Dato’ Mohamad Nizar officiated the first Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station in Jerantut and launched a renewable solar energy system. Both initiatives reflect FGV’s commitment to advancing green energy adoption in agriculture.

He also explored FGV’s smart plantation technologies, including:

  • Geotagger technology for accurate plantation mapping and asset monitoring.
  • Modern mechanisation tools, such as spraying and seed-spreading machinery to improve efficiency (TaburTani & SemburTani)
  • The release of barn owls, an environmentally friendly biological control method for rodent management in oil palm estates.

This milestone visit not only showcased FGV’s cutting-edge solutions in sustainable palm oil, renewable energy in agriculture, and precision farming but also underscored PPPTR’s role as a Centre of Excellence in agricultural R&D.

Through PPPTR, FGV continues to align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, driving innovation to secure a sustainable future for Malaysia’s palm oil industry while honouring the enduring legacy of three generations of leadership.
